Here’s some Fun Stuff to do. If you know of other “Fun Stuff” coming up in the area, please advise Captain Ray by email.
There’s always room for more fun!
Marion, Yamhill, and Polk counties boast some of the nation’s finest vinyards. The Oregon Wines site is an excellent resource for those who have a lazy day to tour the countryside looking for that special bottle of wine.
There are so many wineries, you could easily spend weeks trying to visit them all. Have a great time!
Evergreen Aviation Museum
See, up close and personal, those famous airplanes you may have only seen in war movies: a P-38 Lightning, a B-17 Flying Fortress, a P-51D Mustang, a Spitfire, a Corsair, a Gooney Bird, and the famous Hughes Flying Boat — the one and only 320'x218'x80' “Spruce Goose.”
All these historic airplanes and many more are on display in the Evergreen Aviation Museum. The new 121,000-square-foot museum building is located one mile east of McMinnville on Highway 18. It’s open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
A living laboratory and research facility, the Oregon Garden is a world-class public-display garden and botanical research facility. Located 15 miles east of Salem, the garden is easily the most spectacular 60 acres of flora and fauna you’ll find.
You will want to return again and again. The scenery is forever changing with the seasons. Have Fun!
A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village
A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village provides innovative and stimulating educational experiences which spark children’s natural curiosity. The campus, located in downtown Salem, includes four buildings and a 22,000-square-foot outdoor facility.
Children can climb on the world’s largest erector set, play marimbas on the musical ensemble deck, explore the inside of an animal cell, be the captain of the “Paddle Wheeler,” see drama performances in the Amphitheater, and much more.
Be careful though — while the kids are having fun, you might just learn something!
